Overgrown Tree Branches: Clearance Without Overcutting
Branches can outgrow the space around roofs, driveways, walkways, signs, neighboring property, and other features. The best solution is usually targeted clearance rather than indiscriminately cutting back the canopy.

Call 717-296-0724Define the clearance problem
Identify what the branch is contacting or approaching and how much practical clearance you need.
Avoid topping
Large indiscriminate heading cuts can create decay and weakly attached regrowth. Selective reduction or removal of specific branches is a different approach.
Look for dead and rubbing branches
Clearance work is a good time to identify deadwood, broken limbs, and branches that repeatedly rub one another.
Know when removal is a separate question
If the tree is fundamentally incompatible with the site, repeatedly conflicts with structures, or has major defects, long-term removal may be worth discussing instead of recurring aggressive pruning.
